Hey All--
My chicks are 4.5 weeks old. My barnvelders made it easy with the roos getting noticeably bigger than the other chicks with big red combs. I can't tell if the Ameraucanas are just harder to sex or they're all boys :(

Parents were blue wheatens, but I know pretty much nothing about coloring genetics or how that works

Chick 1: Pretty sure it's a rooster-has the reddest comb (you can click any of the pics to make them bigger)

Chick 2: Also think it's a rooster due to comb color

Chick 3: I have the most hope for this one but "she" has dark feathers coming in on her head and I've read that was a no-go for wheaten pullets

I'm suspicious of all being cockerels. Sorry hugs.gif
Maybesomeone else has a different opinion.

To me the first one looks to be the only rooster by the feather coloring. Hopefully someone more experienced in them will help.

Thank you for your advice. Yeah I can't tell what's going on with the coloring. That chick is certainly much darker than the other two, but the other two are seem to have pretty different colorings from each other (#2 has a lot of "blue" on the chest and #3 is more mahogany).

:fl I want a blue-egg layer!
