General Tips For Newbies?

I'm thinking of buying some chickens, the only problem is that they only sell them when they're baby chicks. I'm terrified 😂. I have some space, where they can grow, and but it's outside. I'm scared that they'll be too cold and die, so I'm going to buy a red lamp to keep them warm. But I have a few concerns.

1.How far up should the lamp be from them?
2. Should I grind up the corn that I will feed them?
3. Should I put them inside in a small box?
4. How should I train them to let me pick them up? Just grab them a little bit every day so that they'll grow up accustomed to it?

That's all for now, and if you could just drop a few tips, I would much appreciate that.

The lamp should be two to three feet away from them. If they put out their wings though, they are too hot and the lamp should be moved farther away.

Don't feed them corn. Baby chicks need medicated chick feed.

The box size depends on how many chicks you are getting. How many are you getting?

To train them, just hold them each for a little while every day. You can sit with them. Be gentle though, and don't pick them up too quickly. Pick them up from the sides.
