Help, 3 wk old bully!

@aart. Yes, it is now approx 4x8.

I picked up some blu-kote and a chick stick this morning....hopefully now he'll leave everyone alone

Thanks for the help everyone! Turns out 1/2 of them were juat tail feathers coming in (after looking at rach of them closely today). The other 1/2 got cleaned up and sprayed with blu-kote

When new feathers are growing....they are called pin feathers or blood feathers,
because they are filled with blood until they grow out farther.
Those break and can bleed rather badly, a yummy treat for other chicks.
If you can't get one to stop bleeding, it needs to be fully plucked right out, which will stop the bleeding and another will grow in it's place. I used a small pair of hemostats to get the job done.

It will help if you add some entertainment for your chicks to keep them distracted. 25 chicks is a big number, as they grow they have lots of energy and take shorter and less naps during the day, they become very active and get bored easily. Try to add some roosts, a tray with soil for dust bathing, a clump of grass and it is even better if you can take them out for some time.
