Mostly black with some white wing feathers, appears to have single comb although I'm a complete newbie.... Was supposed to be a buff orpington, clearly not. Curious what she is!
What I'm having a hard time with is the feet look yellow. If that is indeed so, check bottom of feet color, then it can not be an Australorp or an Orpington. They are white skin. Well, Orpington is white skin so by extension the bird that was selective breeding of black Orpington- Austral Orp also has white skin. I digress, photos are hard sometimes to see skin color. Looks yellow to me.
Hmmmm...I with Egghead Jr. on this one...I am seeing yellow skin too...although a number of breeds have young chicks that have yellowish type skin that changes pigment as they grow. Hatcheries are also notorious for having wrong leg color.
There are a lot of chicks that look similar, but because the comb looks so very dark, I'm wondering if it might not be a Black Sumatra. I can't see the comb well enough, but it could be a pea comb (hard to see difference at this age). Black Sumatras have a stage where the wing tips turn white before they come in black.
Time will tell if Black Australorp, Black Sexlink (possible but usually legs are grey/black), Black Sumatra, and even small chance Blue Andalusian (though legs are usually grey) as there is some lightening in the down which could indicate some bluing.
