I find the guinea eggs SO s--l--o--w to develop.
I've missed the entire conversation about guinea eggs...so I don't know what's been said or your set up...lol.

My female guinea wasn't fertile while she was with the 3 males we had. As soon as I had tryouts for which male got to stay with her as a pair and separated them from the other two, she became fertile. Every egg laid with the 3 males was clear...lol.
She picked her mate. Thank fully her pick was the most easy going, least problem causing male...
yesss.gif

She liked the aggressive male the least of all and wouldn't stay around him. So funny!!

I'm hoping if the broodies raise these keets...the keets won't be so hard on the chickens.

I had a pair of guineas when I was about 10 that raised a brood. Other than that I have 0 experience other than what I'm learning now.

Wow, I should have gotten to a computer waaaay earlier! I knew I had to get here earlier...

I'm in! I'm in!!
WELCOME OVER!!

I'm officialy in. I'm also officially crazy. I just set 13 more CCL's, 3 CCL/BCMs, and 5 CCL/Blue and Lavender Splash Copper Marans. I HAVE to quit going to my friend's/egg dealer's house!!!!
WELCOME!!!!

Hi everyone! CUTEST pictures!! Keep them coming!!!

Here are some of my last hatch. I had to move the D'Uccle chicks since they are so tiny, they were being trampled by the regular size chicks. We're down to 20 out of 22. This is a temporary home until I get something bigger set up for them.

And here are the Silkies and yellow something that were hatched 10 days ago. Also a couple of the BCMs that hatched a few days ago.

Here's another one with the above chicks, but one of my Polish chicks is hanging out at the bottom

This one is blurry, but the rest of the trampling herd is under the heat plate. Polish are front and center....
sucha cute image with all the feet!!!!!
Quote: LOL did you really?

Aaaaaand, he's out!
Sweet!!!! go babies go!!!

Injured chick help?

One of my almost two week old chicks has somehow acquired a leg injury. She can't bear weight on it and if I pick her up she keeps it drawn up to her body and shakes intensely. She is also panting.

Help!?!

Hello!

I have a mix of EE, OE, Maran and a couple BOxBCM eggs that we are hatching in my sixth grade classroom. This is my first ever hatch, I am using a Brinsea Advance 20 (18 eggs total).

We candeled today at day 12 and saw movement in five eggs. It was very fun because I darkened the room and projected the eggs onto the screen as I candeled. I couldn't believe how excited my sixth graders got when they moved! Some of the OE and BCM eggs were very difficult to see through, so if anyone has tips, I'd love them!

Hatch day projected at 5/17.

Carrie
awesomeness!!! Welcome over!!

Okay how long does it take for me to figure out if my silkies are smooth, sizzled, or frizzled? I have 2 blue one black so far 2 more are working on hatching.
So this chick is 3 days old you can see she, being the chipmunker, already has frizzle tips

Day 7 for my broody's eggs. All developing well.
AWESOME news!

Had 8 local eggs go into lock down, 7 Have pipped. Originally had 12, but had 2 clears, 1 blood ring, 1 random quit between day 7-9 (didn't eggtopsy that one). Not bad over all.

I am hatching so much my head is spinning. Here are a few of the recent ones.

This is a surprise tonight from the group I didn't realize it was lockdown 3 days ago. Blue Copper Marans.

Well, we love it! Team Pokey Coffee is well balanced and aromatic with just a hint of chocolate tones. It's a medium roast--not too dark, and not too light, perfect to enjoy any time of the day. And each sip you take will be all the sweeter, knowing you've supported this worthwhile cause.

19 eggs total she would have gone broody real soon

Does it have to be of your own birds? Cause my chickens are still in the (incubator)!, but my neighbor's guinea fowl are in our yard all the time!

First time candling today! Very nervous!

Will be candling 18 eggs later, but first need to read through a how-to candling review...
