Put it in a plastic bag first and you're good to go.

Put it in a plastic baggy on the ice, may take an extra minute to come to temp because of the bag but will still work

Our pretty blue barred Easter Egger cockerel, Max, and several of his hatch mates trying to fit in the dust bath after I filled it with fresh dirt and wood ash.
