I bought some Searama eggs on eBay in the early March. Put total 9 eggs under a black Cochin bantam. She hatched 4 chicks at 3/27, the Easter holiday. They are 3 weeks old now, and I let them out to our backyard under a cage while I was working in the garden. Even under a cage, I still wouldn't let them stay outside alone without supervision.
Malasian Serama chickens are very tiny, even if we have roosters, their crows wouldn't be louder than our regular size hens, at least that's what I hope. We can't have noisy roosters, so Sarama is the only breed I can hatch for fun. Since I am a vegetarian, I will never kill our chickens, not even the unwanted roosters. The chicks are very cute, looks adorable when they scratching with their tiny legs.
