Sarama chicks hatched by Cochin bantam.

I bought some Searama eggs on eBay in the early March. Put total 9 eggs under a black Cochin bantam. She hatched 4 chicks at 3/27, the Easter holiday. They are 3 weeks old now, and I let them out to our backyard under a cage while I was working in the garden. Even under a cage, I still wouldn't let them stay outside alone without supervision.

Malasian Serama chickens are very tiny, even if we have roosters, their crows wouldn't be louder than our regular size hens, at least that's what I hope. We can't have noisy roosters, so Sarama is the only breed I can hatch for fun. Since I am a vegetarian, I will never kill our chickens, not even the unwanted roosters.The chicks are very cute, looks adorable when they scratching with their tiny legs.

I hope you luck out with quiet crowers. Of my four serama roosters one is quieter and has a half crow. Anyone not knowing would not think they were hearing a rooster crow. My other three are loud.
I also live in town. In deference to my neighbors I keep my serama inside their garage coop which greatly reduces the noise my neighbors might hear. Actually, I doubt they hear anything.
 
Thank you for your reply. I am going to build a smaller coop inside of the secured chicken run, which has a roof and half walls. We have a big yard, with 0.4 acre land in the suburb. Our immediate neighbors wouldn't mind our noisy hens, but we still don't want to annoy them with rooster crowing early in the morning.

Have you talked to your neighbors about your Sarama chickens? If nobody complains about their noise, I guess they probably not too noisy. I think our hens are quite noisy when they sing egg songs, and when they cry for a treat. I talked to all our immediate neighbors, they love to see our chickens running around our backyard. So far, nobody complain about their noise.

No. We have never talked with the neighbors. They know about our birds, but we try hard to be sure the noise is always as limited as possible. We are unable to hear the roosters in most of our house. Only on the side facing the garage are the roosters audible. In another month we hope to be moving to the country.
 
Great! if you move to the countryside,then you can have regular size roosters and no need to worry about annoying the neighbors.
