quail vs chickens

Depends on what you define as easier. Quail take less space per bird. So that is a plus. But they can't be allowed to free range since they wont come back home. So that is a negative. Chickens tend to lay their eggs in a spot you can find them reliably each day. Most quail lay their eggs wherever they feel like it, so it might take some hunting to find the eggs depending on how large their enclosure is. Quail, I would say on average, live shorter than chickens. So take that as a plus or a minus depending on your view. Quail do not need a separate roost/coop, and can live all their life in one location. So from a construction point of view, quail are easier to house. The list goes on and on. There are pros and cons to each type of bird.
