Wondering if this little lady is actually a roo in the making. He/she is bigger, lighter and has a much larger comb than the rest. They are just over 10 weeks old. Any opinions?

That one has different barring because it's male. Males get two copies of the barring gene, one from each parent. They basically have twice as much barring as females (which can only ever have one barring gene, from their father), which makes them look lighter.

Thanks for confirming this. Now I just need to figure out a way to make a breeding pen for him and his 12 ladies so I don't get barnyard mixes of them.

I've got some time since they are only 10 weeks old, but darn it, one more project I need to get done soon!

Thanks again!

I've got 70 in my flock, and 2 other roosters, so I'm going to need to segregate them. I've got BRs,golden sex-links, wlh, australorps, araucana, etc. I'd have no way of knowing whose eggs were whose and Big Daddy, my australorp rooster, likes everyone. Even my silkies!
