Baby chick drowned.

I had 6 baby chicks (just got feathers) and 4 ducks probably double their size. We had a kitty pool in there enclosure for the ducks to swim. The other day I went to check them and found a dead chick in the water. How can I keep a pool for the ducks without worrying about the chickens?

Maybe a short fence around the pool that the ducks could fly into but the chicks couldn't climb in?  Probably could even make one out of screen.  :welcome

It's hard having ducklings and chicks together cause ducks get water dirty real fast. The chick probably wanted to drink and the pool was too slippery and big. Try getting a smaller water thing, a kitty pool is real big for chicks.

Another good reason not to house them together, young chicks have no concept of water and how deep it is, I've had them drown in a 5 gallon bucket while trying to drink out of it. The other option is to keep the water shallow.
Chickens, muscovy ducks, turkeys, donkeys , goats, dogs, fish, parakeets, a parrot, and a cat.

Chickens and dogs are healing to the soul.

I brake for squirrels.

Some of my birds.
