I bought chicks from Tractor Supply on April 8th. They are kept inside in a box. My child realized a few days after that one had a large bump on her foot and her foot was all black. I asked my dad, who has chickens and had them as a kid, why it would have a bump and black foot but he didnt have a clue. Today i took the chicks outside to be in their outdoor pen for a couple hours. As i watched, i noticed that this chick hobbled around more than before. I looked closer and realized her foot had fallen off leaving only a toe and a stub that was still bleeding. Will she be okay? I noticed this at 330pm and at 5pm she still had a smallish spot on her stub that was slightly bleeding. She is the sweetest chick of the bunch (i have two that want to peck my fingers off and were pecking at each other in pen). She literally cuddle up in my hand when I was holding her and closed her eyes not even making a peep. She seems to get around okay and is certainly not the smallest of the 12 chicks.
