I have a newly hatched chick today that only lays on it's side and sometimes chirps. still have it in incubator for now and have helped it drink a little. Not sure what to do. It is the last hatch of my bunch.

is anything wrong with his legs?
He might have curled toes, which means he can't walk.
But curled toes is curable
Here is a link to curing it you have to scroll down a bit to find it

Hope this helps

don't see anything wrong with toes.even in my hands it prefers to lay on side. Legs both move but it does not like when I try tohold it with pressure on legs. Should I keep in incubator or take out but keep separate from group? Haven't tried to feed it yet.

If it hatched today, it may still be exhausted from a rough(?) hatching experience. It can go without eating today. Tomorrow you could try giving it bits of scrambled egg or finely mashed hard boiled egg yolk with a bit of water to moisten. Put a bit of sugar in the water which may encourage it to drink. You can also give it Polyvisol infant drops(NO iron) 2 drops- 3 times day, available at Walmart etc. Just put on feed (if it will eat) or just inside its beak, so it can push it out if it doesn't want it.
