I've never hatched eggs before. I had a broody hen and I felt bad for her due to the fact that we have no rooster. I took a few fertile eggs from my boss, whom has almost too many, and gave them to Nannette. She has kicked all but one out. We are at day 14. My question is, "Will there be a problem with her raising only one chick?"

She has so far been a very good mama. I've worried she hasn't gotten enough to eat.

Broody hens get up only a couple times. They only get up when they want too. I wouldn't worry about her eating enough I'm sure she will be find but I would keep and feeder and waterer close by or she probably won't get up very much at all. I hope the best to you! :) also maybe put a little board on the nest box or something so she doesn't kick the egg out like the others. But make sure it is low enough she can get out easily. Sorry I'm not sure how to put that lol

Hmmm I don't really no about broody hens raising chicks so I'm not sure if it will be ok or not cause I don't have a roo or never had a broody so sorry. Thanks for pic I hope someone else can help

I had a hen raise one chick with no problem. She actually did it twice.
I think it's actually slightly safer because the hen can put all her attention into protecting and caring for the one chick.
