Hi All:

I've got one CW chick that is super docile ... and super small. She (not sure of gender) seems happy and healthy, but is literally 1/2 the size of the rest of my chicks at a little over 3 wks old. It came w/the same shipment as my other 24 chicks, so I'm wondering maybe a bantam? I'm hoping someone here might have an idea. As I said, she is very happy and healthy as far as I can tell, and she gets more round by the day, but it is definitely not getting any taller in comparison to the others. Nice thing is that none of the other chicks beat the little one up, or harass it in any way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not worried at all, but just curious. Thanks!

Probably will have to wait to see until mature. Six of my chicks had such bad shipping stress that they were 1/2 the size of their flockmates at a week old, but now at 13 weeks have finally mostly caught back up in size.
 
Typically all of my bantams (I have had about 40) have furry legs/feet straight out of the egg. So i knew immediately if they were Bantams. Otherwise, just a runt probably.
 
I dont know. All I know is I have pretty much all bantams of different breeds and they each have furry feet. IE; Rhode Island Red rooster is a bantam, my barred rock hen is bantam, etc.... They are all really small too, of course.
 
And each time I was suppose to be buying one kind of breed, I would end up with something totally different. Apparently our Tractor Supply cant keep tabs on what is what. Which is totally fine. But I could never tell what I truly had until they were older.
 
Thanks to both of you. Jensownzoo, I had a similar situation. The hatchery sent a number of extra birds in the order. 1/2 dozen didn't make it. I'm guessing they were runts that the hatchery gave us rather than desposing of themselves. MMorganE, I'm now wondering if it might be a runt. It would be kind of cool if she were a bantam though.
