Hi all! This is my first forum post so hopefully someone can get back to me!

I have a flock of 5 pomeranian geese and a gander who are free range on my smallholding. They are closed away in their shed at night as Mr Fox has taken a liking to them unfortunately. We are very excited as one of the ladies has gone broody and has been sat for a couple of weeks now, in the shed happily on her nest. My question is, do I need to move the rest of the flock away when the goslings hatch? Will the others harm them if they are all confined together at night?

Thank you for reading!

In my experience geese have a strong flock parental instinct and gander and goose will be the primary caretakers but the rest of the flock will serve as nannies. You might keep her separate with the goslings until they are fully mobile and then introduce them to the flock when you can monitor the interactions. Good luck for a successful hatch.
