MINK - Need help with construction ideas

I'd like to add that just stapling the hardware cloth may not be enough; we added wood strips screwed into the framing over top.

The entire coop is on an old workshop foundation, a huge bonus. Not stained yet, but very functional. For winter, we attached plastic sheeting six feet up on the open walls. Great ventilation and weather protection. Mary

Now that is nice and secure!!

The bulk of my hardware cloth is not stapled but is secured as you mention...however the parts that are stapled over the openings are also electrified, so THAT should be enough! I know, new concept, taught to me by our local state bear expert.

Take THAT, predators!

Good point... I need to add in case anyone is looking...unless you are being artistic with electric fencing, screw with washers or secure as mentioned above the hardware cloth...

This is amazing! Thank you for sharing, this is so helpful, I will be sure to apply this!!!

I have bears. 2x4 welded wire on a grow out pen stopped it. Bent the heck out of it and cracked the framing but stopped it. I use screws and washers to secure it. The 6K volts on elelctic netting run stops them and any land predator taller than 3". I have weasels, all 1" holes on coop are covered with hardware cloth. I have raccoon that can climb the dog kennel of winter run, coop door is closed at night, every night. I have coyote, skunk, fisher cat....list goes on, use 2x4 welded wire for dig proof apron on the grow out pen. Loads of hawk too- yet to lose a bird in the electric fence run. That's due to making sure they are large enough before going from the grow out pen to the electric fencing run. That and no matter where I move it to there is always ample trees and bushes for cover.
