Hey BYC,
one of my baby silkie chick hatched! He keeps making a lot of chipping sounds and I was wondering what that means as in is it too hot, cold or is it normal? Lol first time hatching. The other two have started to crack through but stopped for about 5 hours, should I be worried? Here's a picture of him, and when do I know when they are "dry"? Thanks!

How has it gone? I know just a few hours for newborn chicks can make a difference, got some fluffy babies I hope?

A proud member of 4h and a strong bearer of the Pacific Northwest and its Cold, not to mention a chicken mommy of 3 Cochins, 1 Sicilian Buttercup, 2 Bantam EE, 1 RIR/EE Mix, 1 Mille Fleur Booted Bantam, and 2 bantam OEGB's, a Black Bearded Silkie and a double laced silver Plymouth Bantam!

Yes, he's starting to dry and get fluffy! (:
One still has only a small peep, and the other is starting to zip! Hopefully in the morning they hatch!
