Do I help it out? The shell has been crumbling since yesterday. I can hear peeping,but there doesn't seem to be a pipping hole. This egg is under a broody hen. What do I do? It's day 21

get a spot set up in the house. Towel, good lighting, qtips, warm water and tweezers....
Pull back the membrane a little where you see the blood spot. Find the inner membrane and moisten it with some warm water. You need to find the beak and check the inner membrane for veins.
You don't want to tear the inner membrane until you're sure there are no more active blood vessels or the chick can bleed to death. Finding the beak and making sure it has oxygen would be the first thing I would do.

The inner membrane? What's the white stuff? I thought that was the membrane? Should I moisten that?

How do I tell if the blood vessels are active?
No that's the outter membrane.
When you find the inner membrane, you will see small blood vessels if they are still active. Sometimes it's hard to see them, so if you moisten a qtip with warm water and touch it to the membrane it makes it easier to see them.
The blood in the pic might be where the beak is. Be careful because that blood looks pretty new, like the veins are still active.
