Is there anything that I should do for newly hatched chicks? Food water heat etc? I have other adults as well but mother is in the chicken coop by herself. Please lemme know what should I do. Is mash better than crumbles?

She will see to the chicks. Provide chick crumbles and fresh water in a dispenser the chicks can drink from but not drown in. The mama broody will eat the chick crumbles and teach the chicks to eat them , also.

Is a heat lamp necessary? We found one of our bantams with four chicks today.

No need for a heat lamp when you have a broody hen to mother them.

You can feed chick starter, grower, all flock, or flock raiser; medicated or unmedicated. Doesn't really matter as long as it isn't layer feed. The calcium levels in layer feed are too high for young chicks, and the protein content isn't adequate. The other feeds are safe for the whole flock. If you choose to feed unmedicated feed, be sure to have something on hand to treat coccidia.
