Corralling the chickens in for the night

Hi, We have had our Golden Comet pullets for a week now. Their pen/run is attached to their house. I am having trouble getting the 6 hens to go in for the night. They wont go in with a treat bribe, or when I try to corral them by "shooing" them along. We go to bed by 8 p.m. here. Two of the hens have been pecking at my booted feet and my legs. What am I doing wrong and how can I get them to go in? I dont want them to become a meal for a nightly predator.
 
When Several of the hens are in, several stay out. If I open the door to get the outside ones inside.........the others come out.
 
You may need another person to help 'herd' them in. Then, I suggest you keep them confined to the coop for a day or two to help 'home' them to the coop. Once they accept the coop as the place to go to roost each evening, it won't be so difficult. In the mean time, you need to be consistent. Get them in and shut each night, even if that means staying up a half hour longer. You may be trying to coop them up too early in the evening. Where I'm at, the sun isn't setting until about 8, and my flock doesn't start heading to the coop until after the sun is down and it's twilight.

This^^^

Some of mine won't go in until darn near full dark....and that gets later and later by the clock as the summer progresses.

I have to ask....is your coop of adequate size for 6 birds?
 
had the same problem, was chasing them down and picking them up one by one...then a super reply came through...put a light in the coop/roost area..they just went up the ramp one by one....the first night they kind of got stalled out on the top all piled up and the doorway but they all went in one by one!...I left the light on for about 4 days and they had gotten into the habit by then! never had to chase a chicken again.
