Might be a weird one but one of my chickens keeps laying and when I go to collect the top of the egg has a crack/ hole in it. It appears to be from when she lays it drops and cracks, it does not seem to be created inside her. The sack inside is whole just the shell has a hole. Is it safe to eat? should they be washed and refrigerated right away?
I have tried to cushion the fall a bit more but they just push everything aside.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks

Fine to eat, but I would do so shortly after they have been laid.

We eat our cracked eggs if the crack has not punctured the membrane inside.
Like sourland said, we do eat it as soon as we can, though.
