My two week old Anacona has an odd clump of feathers by his tail. The clump is a bit smaller than a dime, and is surrounded by a dark pink irritation. Is this a phase of normal molting or something worthy of greater concern?

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You are probably seeing her Preen Gland...it is a tiny finger like protrusion of skin just above the tail and yes, feathers grow out from the top of it in a tuft. This gland is used to oil the feathers and keep them in good condition. The bird will rub it's head and face over this gland and it excretes oil that they will spread over their feathers after rubbing on it. Nothing to worry about.

Enjoy your new babies!

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock! :)
