Layer Feed

Thread Starter

I have 8 pullets. 3 of them are 16 weeks and 5 of them are 14 weeks. I am almost out of my large bag of starter/grower. Can I switch everyone is layer feed in the next few days?

I would wait until most are laying. I personally keep mine on a non medicated grower or an all flock for the higher protein. If you feed anything else besides the ration you will dilute the total protein they receive over the course of the day and some can end up deficit especially once they begin to lay. Always offer a separate bowl of oyster shells when they begin laying no matter what you choose.

I have always started my pullets on layer about 14 -16 weeks and never had a problem.  This is one of those question you will get a different answer from everyone that writes.   The decision is  yours to make.
