I THINK MY CHICK'S ARE SPOILED ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

My tens girls are 13 days old. They are being brooded in a large size dog cage with cardboard around the inside and door to keep anyone from getting hurt from the bars. For the last couple of nights they pile on each other toward bed time waiting by the door for me. My Ecoglow is at the other end. I have to open the door and give cuddles and let my girls fly in my lap before they will go to bed under their Ecoglow. After everyone gets cuddles I say go nite nite and point to the Ecoglow and only then they go to sleep under their warm spot. It's pretty cute. I feel so blessed. I was able to imprint all but two shy ones. My hubby came in thinking our chicks are really friendly by the way they behave with me and he picked them up and they scream chirp chirp and squirm, that's when I realized I AM their mom! I feel so blessed. They bring such joy! I thank God my babies are healthy. They are growing like weeds!

You have achieved the remarkable. My chicks are usually cuddly for the first four or five weeks, and then they get all, "We're too big for hugs and laps now, didn't you know?"

Then over the next couple of years, they decide to get cuddly again, one by one, in their own time, on their own terms.

Tonight, in the run prior to roosting, I got down the knee pad, signally the hug factory was open for customers. I got three three-year olds, one five-year old, two six-year olds, and my recent adopted rescue hen. That's all at once. It was a massive group hen hug fest. This is sort of what it looks like, only with different "customers".

That's absolutely adorable♡♡♡ you know it was nothing I did, my chick's just hatched this way! I was amazed. I do have two shy little rascals out of my 10. The rest are so loveable. I have 7 Barred Rocks, 1 Golden Buff, 1 Silver Laced wyannadotte, 1 Silver Penciled Rock. My shy ones are one barred rock and the silver penciled Rock. I have two 'sets' of chicks - 6 that are 7 weeks old, and two EEs that are 5 weeks old.  The 'big' girls have always been friendly, especially the two Leghorns, but the EEs ran from me screaming every time I tried to handle them.  I decided to give them their space, however once I started giving them some outside time in the run with the 'big' girls, they became my best friends.  They now run to me, fly up to my shoulder, sit in my lap and cuddle around my feet.  Guess I'm good enough when they feel threatened which is good enough for me.  I jus want them to come to me in the event of any threat and that sure happens.

Azygous - love the group hug!

That's how I feel about my shy girls they watch the other 8 crawl all over me but when I go to touch them, oh my goodness! Boy do they scream! I sure hope they come around. One is a barred rock and the other is a Silver penciled Rock. Strange enough the penciled Rock is so far lead in the pecking order. She is a BIG bird. With thick legs and lots of garth compared to the others. I'd really like her to come around especially if she's lead hen!smile.png
