Stitches

Is the comb so bad that it needs stitches? Or could it be that it might just heal if you separate him from the flock and let his wounds heel.

He has a hole the size of a pencil eraser and it does not heal any more it's been weeks. We have a show coming up soon and need it fixed. He's a very expansive bird. @ShellyBear

I'm so angry at myself right now. Half my family are vets and I can't think of anything. Some liquid stitching is sold at different places and I believe the ones that are meant for dogs and cats will work for your chicken. Make sure that when you buy your liquid stitch that you do your research on it. I personally have never delt with this kind of stuff and usually done real stitches. Their are plenty of liquid stitches that have cons and pros. You might just have to look at some online and see which one is rated the highest and the best. That's about all I can do for you. I do know that even if your able to close his wound that it might leave a scar so that won't be good for showing, but a scar is better than a hole :)

My dads a paramedic and has human stitches I just don't want it to burn his skin. I'll order the cat liquid stitches and see how it goes. My mom says just put and earring in it lol. Thanks for your help. Also do you think liquid stitches or the thread like stitches will do better? @ShellyBear

Liquid stitches have chemicals in that are similar to glue. If the hole is still there and the skin has dried placing glue on it might tare it either way. Thread Stitches are a little painful but if done right and are not played with stay in pretty good. Raw skin is easier to stitch up since if the skin is held together long enough it will heal. Like I said I have never dealt with liquid stitches but I would do what is the healthiest and not the quickest which I know is hard since you are showing him soon. Be for you de anything make sure to clean his wound real well. It would be horrible if he got an infection. I think the judges might like the earring lol ;)
