Finally in the coup!

We finally got our coup built and put the 7week old 8 hens and 1 roo out last night. We opened the door but they won't come out. How long does it take for them to venture out?
 
Hi and welcome to BYC. The flock should really be kept in lockdown in the coop for at least 48 hours before letting them out - kinda teaches them where to go and sleep on a night. At the moment, they are simply confused - chickens hate change, so don't worry about it - they will settle down very soon.

Thanks! I have kept them locked in the coop for three days. I wanted to open the door tomorrow but its supposed to rain. Do you think they will know enough to get back in if it rains?
