Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

I have so many broodies, and I can't sell the eggs they plop down on for fear of giving a blood spot to a customer. But the eggs still need to be used, I just crack them in a dish to make sure they are good.

So far I have only had one blood spot,,,but I have visions of balut every time I break one open.

Ralphie is the guy we love to hate isn't he !!! O my. Glad you guys were up I needed a good laugh!
What else do you do with a dux hater? Certainly not reassure them they're right in their personal choice not to keep ducks.

I'm always afraid of missing one for a week and then collecting it.... Not something I want in my brownie batter.

My old pal bobby I told ya about has supplied me with farm eggs for years now. He is half crazy so never know how long eggs have sat around when he gathered them. Done chores for him a few times when he left town that man had chickens everywhere! Eggs high and low. I get a blood spot now and again but never anything worse. I don't know how after all these years. I ain't sceered of it I just crack em in a bowl same as you!

If I find a stolen nest I just throw the eggs, but I have 2 turkey hens broody in one nest,,,,and all the chickens like to sit on top of them and lay their eggs.

So the eggs end up under the turkeys, who hiss and bitch at me when I try to get the chicken eggs ..... Two turkeys on one nest never ends well....

The other day I lifted one of the turkeys off the nest and she had a chicken egg in her arm pit,,,,,that is asking for balut when I crack it,,,being not so bright.... I never marked that egg
