7.5 week old Barred Rock cockerel?

And speaking of individual differences, sexing being an art more than a science as well as some BR chicks with confusing traits, here are two PULLETS. Yup, both pullets, but being hatchery stock, definitely all over the place as far as color. The light one produced a lot of sons in her life, and she was about as light as any of them were. Lexie and Ivy started my love of BRs years ago.

WOW, that is a big difference. You are probably right about it being a pullet.

Speckled Hen your pictures tell quite a story - wow, hatchery stuff CAN be all over weird. I could see people thinking the poorly barred one was a mix - well to a breeder it would seem that way. Their silkies are usually beyond awful as well.

Amazing and beautiful. I learn so much more from you Guys than reading articles alone. I don't remember the hatchery but they were sold as BR. It's a shame there are so few pure breeds today but on the other hand, some mixes are just beautiful!

Update: my BR in question is now 8.5 weeks old and here are the new pictures. I know the darker one is definitely a pullet
