Hello! I'm happy to say I'm no longer a "lurker" . I decided today I should just join BYC's. I started raising chickens this spring. So far I have 8 Cornish Cross they are approaching 5 weeks soon. I also have 2 Production Reds that are almost 4 weeks old. Last week, I added 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, and a Black Australorp. I was worried the two older ones would pick on my newbies. but everything went very well. I really want to get a Gold Laced Wyandotte, but not sure if I will be pressing my luck adding two more newbies to the group. So far though I've been having a lot of fun with the project. My husband has been especially helpful, building me a really nice coop. I really appreciate all of his efforts, and what he has done for me, since this wasn't really his idea.....My user name is from my dog Layla, she likes to help me out quite a bit, sticking her nose in with the chickens taking roll call. The Cornish Cross like to come out and talk to her in the chicken run.

It sounds like you have a lovely assortment of chickens, and they are so cute!! I'm glad the introduction went well. And your husband built an awesome coop! Looks like there's lots of nice ventilation. Thanks for joining us!
