Giant Pekin ducks

Thread Starter

I'm interested in ordering a few Giant Pekin ducks. I want to keep them around for a while though. I know with meat chickens you have to slaughter them around 12 weeks or their bodies get too heavy for their legs. Does this apply to Giant Pekins too? I'd hate to order them thinking I'm keeping them around and then have them break a leg and die because I didn't know any better. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to BYC!

I have heard of leg issues in the "Giants" but I don't believe it's nearly as common as the issues cornish crosses tend to have.
