I found one of my chickens in the nesting box last night. i guess she flew down and went in.. idk. but then this morning shes doing the same thing i found 4 eggs out 5 chickens laying im not sure if she had laid one. maybe shes just having a little trouble? what are some signs of vent prolapse, or egg bound? i checked her vent i didnt see any obstructions but shes justk kinda sitting there. maybe im just blowing it out of proportion. shes not acting sick at all. i gave everyone some grass and usually she is the first one to grab it out of my hand. which is what is worrying me so much since she wasnt moving to come get it. she did eat some. but that was only cuz i picked her up when i checked her and she got some food after i put her down. thanks in advance.

There are a few things that may be going on here.
The first thing to consider is broodiness -- a broody hen will take to the nest and stay there - her hormones are telling her to incubate and hatch eggs (even if there are not eggs in the nest, even if there is no rooster to fertilize eggs, etc). The behavior of a broody can vary quite a bit - some hens become VERY defensive of the nest - fluffling up and screaming at anything that gets near them, while others are just glued to the nest with a bit of a fluffly posture.

That definitely looks like her a while back, when she would move she move her feathers completely fluffed out and the others would peck at her. was the weirdest thing.. but shes dust bathing now so yay! lol
