so it hatched in the night and was unfortunately stuck upside down for a long period of time.... so for a while I couldn't get him to right himself.

I put him in a sock and he is now staying up right but he's pushing his legs straight out in front of himself and can kind of move around but only able to push himself backwards. so I bent up his legs and put him back in the sock.

Should I try to bend his legs more permanently? with some sort of binding?

I can't find anything quite like this with searching and I don't think spraddle leg binding will work as the problem is not the same.

well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to cull this little one. there's no improvement at all and it's already starting to get picked on... it can't get to food and water on it's own, or even out of the heat source.

i will try spraddle leg binding just in case that helps but I don't think it will.

well chickie is up on it's legs now at least but only really goes backwards. poor thing. I will give it some more time to blend in with the rest.

it ended up being fine. it walked backwards a lot when it finally was standing and then suddenly we couldn't tell it apart from the other ones.

I did put it in a sock to hold it upright until it was putting it's legs under itself and then treated it like spraddle leg. with the bandaids etc. it sold to a friend of mine and she's not had any problems with any of them so...

Hi there,
I have a Serama rooster, he is tiny and his feet are doing the same thing. What kind of sock did you use to put your chick in? Do you have any pictures? I would like to try it with my roo, Nacho.
Thanks in advance

not a tight one... just ... hmmm... I wish I had taken a picture. i cut the toe off and just kinda stuffed it in with it's legs under him.

Did that hold it upright? My roo falls to the side when I try and sit him up.
Marie
yes, it seemed to hold it up... kept the legs right under so when it pushed whichever way it wouldn't flop over or upside down.
