Goat Thread!

Sydney broke her horn today. :confused:

What a shame. Hopefully some of it will continue to grow. It looks like she still has the base of the horn and she is still young. I have a yearling doe that just broke her horn on Saturday. Of course her horn is much bigger and is broken at the skull so it wont grow back.

Yeah. I think it will, the base is still there, maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

Those scurs look small. If you have access to an electric dehorning iron, just clip off the horns close to the skull and cauterize with the hot iron. That will take care of it and by doing so you will save everyone, including the goat, a lot of grief. If you can find any dairy goat breeders in your area, they will no doubt have one. Or you can get your own.

They're not scurs, she was never dehorned, most likely won't be.
