My chicken takes a few steps and lays down

2 days ago I noticed one of my sexlink hen is walking little wobbly but I had to go to work. When I returned I noticed that she was just laying around and from the research I did it sounded that she might be egg bound so I gave her a sitz bath for 15 minutes and I checked inside and I felt no egg. I gave her a little rest for an hour and nothing. I gave her another sitz bath for 30 minutes and checked her again and I still felt nothing. I massaged her abdomen both times. she's eating well. I have not noticed or seen her take any water in I generally feed her layer pellets, but she has free graze of my yard which includes many bugs and earthworms which seems to be her favorite. I also give them left over salad, vegies, and fruit. I tried adding oyster shell to their diet they seem to pick around it. last night I took a calcium tablet and crushed it and put it in a strawberry and she ate the strawberry. I came home from work today and gave her another warm sitz bath she has had normal bowel movements two of which were very round and large, One of which I equated to having her in a box in the house for a couple hours before I put her outside. Today when I felt inside of her again I felt no egg but I did feel stool which felt liquidy and when I pull my finger out was very odorous. she has not a bowel movement since I've done this to know if it's going to come out solid or liquid. I put her outside and she's gotten up and taking a couple steps but she prefers to lay down she is grooming herself dry she did eat some grass what else could I do?

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join us here! As you have checked for egg binding and found nothing I would say that's probably not the problem. A few other things to consider are mites/lice as this can really drain birds. Has she been wormed? Are any others under the weather? You can pop by the emerncy disease section too where I'm sure other members will be able to help you. Here is the link ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Good luck and I hope she is well again soon fl.gif
