Update: in the last two days, this bird has gone completely nuts...violently pecking at the girls, generally terrorizing them and causing them to mash up into one corner behind their waterer & biting me. Tried several times to sort it out to no avail. He has since been separated from the flock & everyone, including him, has calmed down.
