What breed is the big chick (Big Bertha) and do you think she is a pullet? She is 3 weeks old and was selected out of batch of 'variety of bantam chicks' with no breed information.

Looks like a Mille Fleur d'Uccle, a probable Silver Duckwing OEGB, and a Bearded Polish. Given the Polish' size, I'm inclined to think it may a standard, not a bantam.

It's way too young to tell gender with any kind of certainty, or even really to guess. I will note that the Silver Duckwing color is sexable pretty early based on breast plumage, and from what I can see the OEGB chick so far appears to be developing a salmon colored (female) breast.

Thanks so much... I am thinking the same thing about Big Bertha but time will tell. The other two chicks love her because they fit under her wings and she keeps them warm... I have two other posts (threads) that I have posted for the other two chicks. This one was for Big Bertha and I agree she looks like a Polish (a big Polish girl...) and we are hoping for a girl...

Oh my gosh!! I love her! She is the cutest!

Big Bertha is growing up. She is now 5 weeks old and we really think she is a Polish Golden Lace Bantam and we are hoping she is a she... What do you all think?
