Brooder too small?

Sometimes it's best to be dollar wise vs penny wise...

A 250W bulb cost about 72 cents a day to operate or about $22 a month
A 60W bulb cost about 17 cents a day to operate or about $5 a month

I'm guessing the $17 savings a month by switching to a 60W bulb might be the wise investment...
 
I never thought of that... I'll see if we have one! I did take the chicks out today, about until they started getting to confident for me to handle, or until it got too cold. Here are some pictures.

The chicks are looking very good, especially the older ones. Hopefully the weather where you are will warm quickly, they are almost there. If its sunny this weekend, you could get them some nice outdoor time during the day to help them adjust.
 
Wow, looks like the folks really came thru. Not bad. You're on your way to acquiring a setup that will last a long time. The collapsible crate is a good idea.

One thing I thought of is to make sure your coop/run is snake proof when these go out. Smaller chicks have a way of disappearing more than grown chickens. I usually think its snakes, which can squeeze thru anything. The chicks will run to a corner instead of flying to a roost or fighting.
