You'll still have the other creatures to deal with.I’m easily talking myself out of work tomorrow
So, explain to me. Are what you call BCM's French Marans (feathered legs)?I have a BCM pullet in the house. She has lost a lot of weight, not real sure why yet. But I’m trying to fatten her up again.

Efficient stoves are a huge difference. We found that out in our cabin. Had a cheapo that we couldn’t bank to last more than 2 hours. Bought a good one, and it easily lasts 6-8 hours. Burn a whole lot less wood that way.
we are at less than 20 degrees, on our way to zero, a couple inches of snow, and it’s still coming down.
I swear, I would not keep chickens if this lasted any longer here than it does.
our thread the past few days has given me a funny idea for another winter photo shoot... "wishing we were warm..." ill bring the baby pool inside and put the little in swim suits... in the meantime tho

There is a British Maran that doesn't have feathered legs and is black and white.BCM to me is Black Cooper Marans.
Mine are feathered legged, so technically I guess they are French, but I don’t use the French term. They are all originally French, right? I suppose the designation has come to differentiate between feather legs or not, but “to me” they “should” be feather legged, as they were bred to be, so saying French isn’t necessary.
Kinda like Crested Cream Legbars. I don’t use the “Crested” term because they all should be crested. Cream is the particular variety of legbar. It’s unnecessary redundancy, in my opinion.

I'm curios because I have French Marans here supposedly, but three generations on I've got a bantam/Maran cross with British Maran markings.
