Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

We borrowed a log splitter today - wow, was that nice! We had pretty widespread tree devastation from that freak February snow storm, and have been making slow but steady progress on getting it cleaned up before fire season. We've done 9 burn piles and stacked about 3 cords of wood. Crazy!

Thank God for log splitters! Fosters a whole new appreciation for what our wood-burning grandparents had to live with. Mine's been a PITA from the get-go, but it sure beats the alternative.

Talking of anecdotes

Kid 2 said that while in Texas... he would get a bit warm, and want to cool down....so he would open the front door..... and then go "Oh! Right!"

After a lifetime of opening the front door to cool down the house.....

He said he was surprised how often he would forget.... and start to open the door there in Texas... in order to cool down.

The wall of heat slamming into him was a quick reminder of where he was.
My son and grands are in Florida right now.... They said it was in the 90's ..... And if course it's a muggy heat ..... They aren't used it.
They are miserable.
