Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Darn squirrel just ran across the roof of my blind..... Scared me half to death.... I put down scent tonight first time I've ever hunted with scent.... Guess I'll see if it does anything.... I don't know.... Just smells like deer pee to me..... :lau

I had two squirrel encounters today. One was early morning, a squirrel ran up my blind stairs and popped in over the wall to gnaw on a sugar beet. He was very surprised to see me and had a lot of choice squirrel words. Then mid afternoon another squirrel stole a chunk of sugar beet, took it up a tree, ate it and got the hiccups. For over an hour he sat in the tree next to me "chuck-wheeee".

I have no heater. Supposed to hit 39 tonight. I hope the firearm opener is more interesting than today was. Time to put my bow back away and pull out my grandpa's rifle. 1953 pump action .30-06 with a little bitty 1953 scope.

I pulled out my 30-06 too... I was gonna just use my crossbow. But the scope will be good for the low light conditions..... The heater is from my ice fishing shack.... Wouldn't really need it but i prefer to hunt in a shirt if a can. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW.... Walnut

Do they need a trim around the target?

I can't, I just can't.

Mine bit me, so to teach her a lesson I married her. She hasn't bitten me since.

Oooh, she took a big bite!

The meeting of the Princess and Me:

Me bartending - she there with a friend - we flirted.
Speeding ticket on way home.
Back to court - stopped at her office and asked for a date if the judge did not take my license.
Judge did not take my license.
Started dating - went back to college to be close to her.
Married on semester break of my senior year.

I got more than I deserve.

52 years, 9 months, 20 days, but who's counting.  :love

Edited to advise:  When you find that person that you like more than anyone else you have ever met - marry them.

You got to be tough to hunt up there is what I heard . I could shoot a six point off my porch . It's so dry here every hunter out there is sitting close to water . I found a velvet rub beside my pump house today which means he's watering at the old rock quarry. I need to check in the morning to be sure nobody has a stand over there .Good luck with the hunt tomorrow hope you and Phil take a good deer .

Had one try to climb my tree the last time I was out. Squirrels freak me out almost as bad as mice. I have to chase them away. :/
