We ordered 15 chicks from McMurray's ornamental layer collection, plus the one free chick. They arrived two weeks ago and we have 15 left. 7 of the chicks have the chipmunk look, but they are not the same. Can anyone tell me what these are? We have two of each breed. Thanks for the help!

Chick 1...

Chick 2...

Chick 3...

Maybe Welsummers or Leghorns, I'm not sure because their legs seem to have a greenish tint in the picture. What color are the legs? Oh and

I got the ornamental layers from McMurray 3 wks ago. Chicks 2 and 3 look like Fayoumis. I have them. Maybe chick 1 is an EE?

Came back to this post to correct the breed. What I have that looks like your chicks are Phoenix. I'd meant to say phoenix and ended up writing fayoumis.

Sorry.

Thanks for replying!

Each pair of chicks have different colored legs. One set is very green, one is a barely greenish yellow, and one is yellow.
I'm sure some of them are going to be easter eggers, but we were hoping for some variety. We did get one Fayoumis, she is much more brown than these girls. We also got a buff brahma, a white cochin, a black cochin, two golden penciled hamburgs, a cuckoo maran (we hope), and a golden laced wyandotte.

You're welcome! My Fayoumi wasn't that brown at this age, hence my guess. 7 out of the 16 died. They were very weak on arrival, but the survivors are very strong. I have 1 blue Cochin, 1 lavender Cochin, 1 gold laced Wyandotte, 1 Fayoumi, 1 possible EE, 3 Lakenvelders and 1 "gosh knows what"

I have someone here at BYC who also got ornamental layers from McMurray and there is this 1 chick that she is very puzzled about. Maybe you got one like hers and know the breed. Would you post the pics of your Hamburgs and Marans? They might look like her chick. Thanks!

These are my three feather footed. Buff, Black (maybe) and White. The black has some white in it's feathers, especially on it's legs, but it doesn't really look like a silver laced cochin. I guess we'll see...

I think these two are a Golden Penciled Hamburg and an Egyptian Fayoumis

I think this is a Cuckoo Maran. So far he is the one I suspect is a roo since he's the only one growing a comb so far.

So, does anyone know if I'm correct?

Thanks for posting. The other person I told you about who also got the ornamental layers actually has 2 orange barred ones that don't look like anything we've ever seen.
If no one else responds to your posts, try feathersite.com There are pictures of chicks of many different breeds there. I found I had Lakenvelders through that site. Good luck!

I think I see a pea comb so I'll go with White laced red Cornish.
