Hi I have a female 2 1/2 year old Muscovy hen she wasn't acting any different then she does but today she popped out an egg in the middle of the pen when she got in the pool and i guess it was stuck i don't know but she has never ever done this before to me she is one of my best layers in my group. She is the oldest duck in my group of 7 in the pen she was my very first Muscovy duck that i bought to start with ducks. it would suck if  i lost her at this time. '

My question is could this happen to her again like i say she has never done this before she has always had good eggs. here is what i feed all my birds.

i buy:

2 50lb bag of layer pellet 20% protein

2 50lb bags of poultry layer 20% protein

(I go through 200 pounds of food in 1 1/2 months)

they are well fed but not fat.

I also feed them black oil sun flower seeds which is a Wormer for them.

also feed a little bit of scratch grains as a treat but not a lot sense they free range some times of they day when they don't have babies trailing behind them because we have cats to watch for that will eat them. i ran out of the oyster shell or the bagged calcium rock couple days ago so i am needing to get more.

I just don't want to loose her at all because she is the most protective mother except for my brown hen she will bite your head off if she could but please anyone could help that would be much helpful. I have had ducks ever sense i was 25 years old so it would suck to loose my first duck i ever bought. i know my male is getting up there he is like 3 1/2 years old but still going great.

please let me know what i can do to keep her from doing this again.
