My ducklings are almost 5 weeks old! There coop is almost done being built. It should be done this weekend. When can they go outside? I worry because I live in nh and it still gets chilly at night! During the day it is 50s but at night it can still be in the 30s. Any suggestions would be great! Last week it was beautiful 70-80s so they did get a lot of outside time! They are much happier outside!

Ours went out when they were fully feathered. I don't remember the age, but once their baby fluff gets mostly replaced by real feathers or the temperature is a more comfortable 70 in the day, 50+ at night, they can go out.

They would go out during the warm days earlier just to play.

My 3 1/2 week olds are outside. They are in a nice enclosed warm coop but no heat lamp. We had one night down to 35 degrees. They stayed very warm. I checked on the multiple times and they were huddled up with their legs stretched out happy as can be. Mine are also much happier outside.
I prob depends on the shelter and how many ducklings there are to keep each other warm too. I have 6 pekins. They are doing great outside at 3 1/2 weeks.
My last batch i also moved outside at 3 weeks. It was colder at night. Around 30 degrees . And i gave them a heat hamp in their coop, they still stayed far away from it. From what i have read on multiple occoasions, ducks are much hardier and stay warmer than we think.
I know they were alot different than my chicks. My chicks werent ready to go outside till 6-7 weeks.

Mine were three week this past Monday! They'll be going on this week. Highs are 70+ and lows are 50+. Next week highs are 80+ and lows are 60+. They would've been out alright, but the rain has been brutal. So hopefully today or tomorrow. I was worried that 3 weeks was too soon, as this is my first time raising ducklings.

Thank you this helps a lot! Our coop is insulated the ceiling and floor but it has been rainy and cruddy so I will wait til the weekend when the coop is complete and transition them. This week it has been a low of 50 during the day time aND it got down to 30 one night if it gets that cold I will put there heat lamp out with them! They are definitely loving there day time outside time they are much happier outside! And not to mention it makes life easier when they are in one place at all times and not having to clean 2 places all the time lol!! Thanks again!
