So I finally got my chicks last week. A flock of 18 of the cutest little critters imaginable!!
I have been glued to this website for over a year now learning everything I can. I read on an old post that bonding with your chicks is important so they aren't scared of you. I built my brooder with that in mind. It's made from some long lengths of 2 x 12 lumber I had in the shop (old scaffold planks). Last night I stopped at Petsmart and got some small crickets. I sat in the brooder with the girls. To start with they all ran to the other end. Once I started handing out the crickets it was a different story!!!! They were climbing all over me and chasing each other all around the brooder... Hours of entertainment!!!! They go nuts for crickets!!
This morning when I checked on them they came running to see me as soon as I walked in to the shop. I think climbing in with them for an hour of an evening will be the new routine!
I love this forum and the wonderful advice everyone here gives... Thanks so much!!!
