Can I use grower grit in layers?

Hello,

I am a relative newbie. I've had bought 3 pullets and a surprise roo at around 2 to 3 months of age. They are around 36 wks now. All is well, and they seem healthy and happy.

I went to get some more feed and scratch today and had them throw in a bag of "adult" grit. However, they just put it in the back of the jeep, and when I got home, I foolishly just opened the back to scoop out a cup of grit. After I opened it, I was thinking it would be larger, so I looked at the bag and sure enough, it is grower grit, not adult grit.

These chickens "free range" in a fenced back yard. It is not huge. I'd guess it is about 1200 sq-ft. I'm sure they can find some grit there in small quantities, too. We are moving, though, and it will be a while before I have a free-range setup for them.

Is it OK to feed layers and roo grower grit?

Thank you for your help.

Kindly,

Nathan

I am sure it is fine. They may go through more of it then adult grit, but I doubt it will cause problems.
