Help my child's Silkie chick!

That leg just looks so unusual to me. Is there any chance that the chick suffered from frostbite in the feet in recent weeks? Or could there be a plastic band around the leg that has become embedded in the skin, cutting off circulation? This happens pretty often in chicks, and those bands tighten as the chick grows, not easily seen, but the circulation can become cut off. Paralysis then could happen. Please probe around the leg with some tweezers to look for a band, and cut it off if there is one.

Omg
Will do now!
No the chick has never lived outside. Honestly, was so focused on hair on head to make sure the chicken was a hen. Never looked at her feet and legs. Noticed the injury 2 days after purchasing. The hair on feet and legs could have covered the underlining issue. Silkies are hard to find around here (Atlanta)
In the excitement .. Never thought to examine. We been waiting a long time to start the flock. It's really unfortunate.. Chick is a sweetheart. My son checks on her and make sure I remember to give medication daily. Her name is chirp chirp suka.

She puts wings over and snuggles with the little black Silkie.., the baby of the flock.

Yes that could be possible, since those metal tray opening can be sharp. There have been reports of chicks slicing their necks on those. I had one round one that was sharp. But I still think there is another reason for the swelling. Human hairs, string, and the plastic chick leg bands have all been found wrapped around legs. As they grow, the circulation gets interrupted. I would probe the area hust below the swelling for something like that. Those chick bands that many breeders use to mark chicks are dangerous that way. Please update us on what you find. I know vets are very expensive, but if you can figure out the problem, I would seek a vet.

The chick is doing better and eating, drinking. The leg is still bad. Had a human Doctor look at chicken and dr felt a tumer in chest. Your info ( was very helpful) makes me think the chick has Mycopladma synoviae.
Chick is going to be put down tomorrow. Breaks my heart...I am having autopsy done, to confirm the tumors. Any suggestions? I am worried about my other 5 birds. Black astroloupe, bufforpingtion, Americana, 2 silkies.
Could it be Merricks?
Never buying a chick off Craig's list again.
Really appreciate your time
