Okay! So out of 30 call duck eggs, this is the only one still alive. My last batch hatched three, with many fully developed in the air sacs. I read somewhere that you could help your eggs hatch by making a little breathing hole so this egg wouldn't suffocate like the others. I made the little hole yesterday ( the day after it was due) and put it back in the incubator until this morning. I took it back out and into the bathroom, made the bathroom as humid as I could and started chipping away at the shell so I could see what was going on. The baby was still alive, but shrink wrapped. So I made a little tiny tiny hole in the membrane, wet the membrane, then wrapped it in a wet paper towel and put it back in the incubator. The baby still moves occasionally. But now the membrane looks almost as if it's inflated... Like its replacing where the shell was. WHAT DO I DOOO?!!! It was due Sunday to hatch!! Day 28!! It still looks as though there is a lot of yellow inside the membrain so I feel like it shouldn't come out yet but I don't know what to do! Is it going to die because of the hole in the air sac?? This is my first time hatching eggs and I know I probably shouldn't have helped it but I was impatient and scared. Please please please help.

Hi - I'd suggest posting on the "Duck" forum for further help. I'm sorry - i know nothing about ducks or using incubators so I'm not much help

I don't know anything about ducks or incubation either. You may want to post on "incubation and hatching threads," and also the "duck thread," put that in search box and it will come up.
