Membrane stuck to chick

I have a newly hatched chick and a portion of the membrane is stuck to the head and right wing. I've tried a little warm water but it doesn't seem to be dislodging the stuck material. Can I use mineral oil or something similar? I don't want to cause too much shock to the chick but he's very vocal and giving an effort. I'm afraid this stuck on gunk is causing him to not stand very well since its restricting the wing and neck area.

You can use Dawn Blue dish detergent if y ou need to.
