I have 2 hens, 2 roosters, and 2 semi-recent additions. Hen 1 went broody, hatched 4 eggs, and about 4 weeks in, left the surviving 2 chicks and went back to laying. Hen 2 started laying during this period. Hen 2 went broody about a week later with 6 eggs under her. 5 days later (yesterday), I looked under her (she is super hormonal compared to Hen 1), and found 11 eggs. Now I know why I haven't found any eggs from Hen 1.

What do I do here? It is my understanding that after the first ones hatch, she'll abandon the rest in a couple of days, meaning at this rate there'll be 21 eggs abandoned. If this is correct, should I mark the eggs that she has under her now in some way, and take out new ones each day? Rush to assemble an incubator to take over when she leaves? Or leave it as is?

Mark the eggs that she has under her, take out the ones that look fresh, and check her every day. You are going to have problems with chicks being too small/dying. I don't have experience with incubators, but you might want to get one for the eggs that hatch later. If you're lucky another hen will go broody by the time she gets up and you can just put them under her.

Hope it all works out for you!
