Caponizing Tools

Did you check out the tools Poco Pollo on here sells?

I am aware that he periodically groups orders together to send to an overseas supplier (China?). The reviews I've seen from the folks who have gotten them are positive -- definitely better than the commonly available caponizing kits (which are crap) but I don't know how they compare to veterinary surgical kits.. I didn't go that route because the time I first needed tools didn't coincide with his ordering schedule.

I got her kit and yeah ordered from China. I think what everyone liked the most was the rib spreader. I got both the small and medium spreader. Can't vouch for them yet I know nothing yet. My first attempt at caponizing was a failure, I 'chickened out' Lol!
See what happens on this springs hatch, maybe I can follow through.

What kind of rib spreader is in that kit? I know there are several styles of spreader and it ends up being a to-each-his-own thing. If that's the only real draw of that kit, I'll stick with my surgical/dissection tools. The rib spreader I have is good quality and stays locked (which is the complaint I see with the spreader in the crappy kits, that it won't lock or it won't stay locked) and I didn't have to pay overseas shipping to get it.

Yeah that's what I heard, the kits they sell online and in catalogs don't lock good. I haven't ever caponized any yet but I'd say the spreader is probably the only tool you need, probably use about anything for the rest of it. I've seen videos of people using a straw and string.
The kits she sells with all extra costs is cheaper than the online kits, international shipping she has them all sent to her breaks up cost with however many go in on the order more that order cheaper it is and then she packages and ships to us.
This is the kit I got and I paid a extra $8 for both spreaders, one for roosters and one for young cockerels,
400

I found some basic surgical tool sets on ebay, just an fyi. I'm watching 2 sets right now because, well you just never know when you might need them. Lol!!
